Quick Summary
  • This is a small studio site. Reading it doesn't create a contract or an obligation.
  • Be a good visitor: read, share, cite. Don't break in, scrape in bulk, impersonate us, or attack other people's systems through us.
  • Everything here is ours. Quote and link freely with attribution; don't republish whole pieces.
  • Content is provided as-is, in good faith, with no warranties.
  • Governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA. The English version of these terms prevails on conflict.
  • Questions? hello@discerne.co

1. What this site is

discerne.co is the studio site of Discerne.co, LLC — a worldwide software studio incorporated in Delaware, USA. The site exists to share what we're building (StoryPass, Será que é golpe?, Mission Tools, Reunite.is) and what we believe about software. It's informational. Reading it doesn't create a contract, an account, or a commercial relationship.

These terms govern your use of this site only. They don't govern our products — each product has its own terms.

By using this site, you accept these terms. If you don't accept them, please don't use the site.

2. Acceptable use

Use the site for what it's meant for: reading, sharing links, citing fairly. Specifically, you may:

  • Read and share. Linking to any page is welcome. Quoting passages with attribution and a link back is encouraged.
  • Screenshot for fair use. Education, commentary, criticism, news reporting — fair use as defined by US and applicable international copyright law.
  • Cite our work in your own writing. Attribution: name us as "Discerne.co" and link to the source page.

You may not:

  • Try to access non-public areas of the site or its underlying infrastructure.
  • Scrape the site in bulk. Normal browsing is fine. Automated requests beyond what a human reader generates are not.
  • Impersonate us or imply that something we didn't write came from us.
  • Use the site as a platform for attacking other systems (vulnerability probing, hosting malicious content via our infrastructure, etc.).
  • Republish whole pieces as your own. Excerpting and linking is fine; reposting full content is not.
  • Use our content as training data for commercial AI products without our explicit written permission. Linking, quoting, and individual research use is fine; bulk ingestion for commercial model training is not.

If you're not sure whether a use is acceptable, email hello@discerne.co before doing it. We'll usually say yes.

3. Intellectual property

All content on this site — text, images, design, code visible in the page source — belongs to Discerne.co, LLC unless explicitly noted otherwise. Brand assets (the wordmark, the lime accent dot, the typography pairings) are ours.

StoryPass™ is a trademark of Discerne.co, LLC. Product names and logos of our products are our trademarks; you may not use them without our written permission.

You may quote and link freely with attribution. You may not:

  • Reproduce or redistribute substantial portions of the content
  • Use our brand assets to identify your own work
  • Sell, license, or commercially exploit any of the content

If you want to use something for a purpose this section doesn't cover, ask. hello@discerne.co.

Third-party content we reference (logos of products we mention, screenshots from interviews, etc.) belongs to its respective owners and is used in good faith for editorial purposes.

4. No warranties

Information on this site is provided in good faith. We try to be accurate and current. We make no warranty that any of it is correct, complete, or up-to-date.

THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS-IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY.

Nothing on this site is professional advice — legal, financial, medical, security, or otherwise. Don't make decisions that depend on accuracy without verifying independently.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Discerne.co, LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your access to or use of (or inability to access or use) the site.

Since the site is free to read and we don't sell anything from it directly, our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these terms or your use of the site is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for use of the site (zero) or (b) the maximum amount permitted by applicable law.

Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages — in those cases, this section applies to the maximum extent permitted there.

6. External links

We link to other sites we think are worth reading. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy, privacy practices, or anything else they do. A link from us is not an endorsement.

If a third-party site we've linked to does something harmful, please let us know at hello@discerne.co and we'll review the link.

7. Modifications

We update these terms when our practices change or the law changes. Material changes get a site-wide banner notice for 30 days before they take effect; minor changes (typos, contact details, formatting) go live without notice.

The current version and last-updated date appear at the bottom of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

If you don't accept updated terms, the right move is to stop using the site.

8. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from or related to these terms or your use of the site shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Where mandatory local consumer-protection law applies to you (for example, the Brazilian CDC, EU/UK consumer law, or any other jurisdiction whose mandatory consumer law reaches you), that law prevails to the extent of the conflict.

If there is any conflict between the English version of these terms and any translation, the English version prevails.
